Sandy Lee Johns, 92, of Jonesboro, AR, formerly of Steele, MO, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at Rose Skilled Care in Jonesboro.
Born Wednesday, March 29, 1911 in tennessee, he was the son of the late Carlos Johns and Florence Privett Johns.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Sandy was united in marriage to Minnie Maude Cope on February 27, 1932, in Blytheville, AR.
She preceded him in death on August 28, 2001.
He was a farmer and a member of the church of Christ in Steele.
Mr. Johns leaves two sons: Charles Johns and his wife bonnie of Wachula, FL and Billy Johns and his wife Connie of Jonesboro; two daughters: Iris Ladd and her husband Gene of Jonesboro, and Elizabeth Fry and her husband David of Starkville, MS; two brothers: O'Neal Johns of Jackson, TN and Lee Jackson Johns of Alamo, TN; five sisters: Little Pritchett of Friendship, TN, Pauline Vida of Farmington, MI, Mattie Bell Ray of Jackson, Lorina Johns of Long Beach, CA and Vera Brown of Steele; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Johns were held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. John Mundy officiating.
Burial was at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville with Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Billy Johns II, Chris Fry, Phillip Ladd, Freddy Ladd, Derek Ladd, Taylor Ladd and Daniel Ladd.
