He joined the Union forces and fought with the brave men of the Second Kansas Cavalry Company A.

He was the fifth child of David M. Ricker and Margaret (Kirk). His other brothers and sisters were:

Charles Moultou born on 24 Sept 1870 in Marshall County, KS. He married Theresa Noo on 19 Dec 1895 in Leavenworth, KS.

Joshua Mundy was born on Oct 1872 in Marshall County, KS. He died on 18 Oct 1900 in Leavenworth, KS

Pearl Bell was born on 15 Aug 1876 in Marshall County, KS. She married Garrett J. Drew on 9 Jan 1893 in Leavenworth, KS. They had five children.
