George is the son of John Blackler and Mary Melissa Bowers, born April 26, 1872, and baptized in the Methodist Church August 25, 1872, at Ekfrid, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada.

From the records of his daughter, Blanche Marie Blackler Bradshaw, George moved to the United States in April 1881. The date on his Naturalization papers is August 3, 1891.

George was married December 25, 1895 near Bolckow, Andrew County, Missouri to Susan Stella Edelman, daughter of John Cornelius Edelman and Anna Amelia Zellars. In the tradition of the old country, the Edelman's went by their middle name, Stella, Cornelius, and Amelia.

Over the course of his life, George worked as a carpenter and builder, and the postal service. He was active in the Idaho State Grange and Woodmen of America. In 1937, Stella passed away. George moved back to Missoula, Montana and remained there the rest of his life.

George departed this earth on March 5, 1940 in Missoula. He was 67. - Montana Death Index

In the family tradition, George was brought to Newport, Washington to be laid to rest amongst loved ones in Newport Cemetery.
