Thomas Purrier married Alice Knight
in Olney, Buckinghamshire, England, 21 February 1621[/2]. They came to Massachusetts Bay on the "Hopewell" on 1 April 1635. ("W[illia]m Parryer, 36, of ," "Alyce, 37 years, wife of W[illia]m Purryer," and "children of W[illia]m Purryer," "Mary Purryer," aged 7, "Sarra Purryer," aged 5, and "Kethren Purryer," aged 18 months, were enrolled at for passage to New England on the Hopewell.) They first settled in Ipswich MA; moved to Salisbury MA by about 1640, & Southold NY by an unknown date.
They had 6 children: Thomas, Mary Reeves, Sarah Mapes, Margaret, Katherine, & Martha Osman.
William Purrier was head of one of several families which migrated from Olney, Buckinghamshire, and vicinity, in association with their minister, WILLIAM WORCESTER {1639, Salisbury}. These families are JOHN COOPER {1635, Lynn}, EDMUND FARRINGTON {1635, Lynn}, JOHN FULLER {1639, Boston}, WILLIAM GAINES {1638, Lynn}, WILLIAM GRIGGS {1635, Boston}, NATHANIEL KIRTLAND {1635, Lynn}, PHILIP KIRTLAND {1635, Lynn}, ANTHONY NEWHALL {1638, Lynn}, THOMAS NEWHALL {1638, Lynn}, WILLIAM PARTRIDGE {1638, Lynn} and HENRY PIERSON {1639, Lynn}.
