Christian is the son of Christian F and Christiana (Creuz) Rau. He married Ida Myrtle Corn on Oct. 20, 1897 in Macon County, IL.

His children: James Leslie Rau, Hazel Dell (Neuman), Erma Myrtle (McClure), Earl Wilbur Rau and Mary Blanche (Dealey). One infant daughter preceded him in death.
