Mrs. Christina Roethel, 85, a former resident of the Town Meeme, Manitowoc County, died Thursday at the home of her son, Ned Roeder, who resides on Route No. 1 Sheboygan. Her death resulted from old age. For some time she had been ailing at intervals and since Tuesday she was confined to her bed.
December 30, 1833, she was born in Mannheim, Meinz on the Rhine River, Germany. She was married twice. Her first marriage occurred in Germany, and a short time later in the year 1861, the couple migrated to this country, and settled in Town Meeme. Since the death of her second husband, Henry Roethel, who died eleven years ago in Town Meeme, she had made her home with her son.
The survivors are a son, Fred Roeder, Route 1, Sheboygan and one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Mueller, 314 Wisconsin Avenue, Sheboygan; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A son, Henry Roeder, died twenty-seven years ago.
The remains were removed to the home of a grandson, Gustav Roeder, at Schwartzwald, from where the funeral was held today and services were conducted at St. John's Evangelical church, Schwartzwald. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Six grandsons were pallbearers.
