Melissa Hicks Pyle was the oldest child of Virgie Harris Pyle and James Harford Pyle. She was named for her grandmother Rosalie Melissa Hicks Harris. In 1943, she married Godfrey Emile Mann and had twin boys in 1945 in New Orleans. One of the boys (George Godfrey Mann) died four months later. Samuel Rogers Mann survived to give her grandchildren. On 8 October 1952, she married Millard E. Donaldson, but they had no children. She attended Saint Marks on the Hill church and was buried in their section of Druid Ridge.
