In 1902, Emerson Carey(Carey Park) hired Konrad C. "Koon" Beck to manage the Park. Beck was a showman extraordinaire and had a large stock of exotic animals to show. In May of 1903, Beck contracted a traveling "Merchants Carnival" to come to the park for a week, that had a huge Ferris Wheel to display. The park never had a permanent Ferris Wheel though.
