Born about 1589 ("being in the seventy and five years of my age" on 15 October 1663). Cordwainer from Ipswich, Suffolk, who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 (based on admission to freemanship on 3 March 1635/6 & settled in Cambridge MA. Died in Cambridge 30 June 1664.
Married in Little Whelnetham, Suffolk, 30 April 1622 Susan Wolfenden, daughter of James Wolfenden. She was baptized at Little Whelnetham on 11 August 1594 and died at Cambridge on 23 February 1664[/5?].
On 16 April 1642, "Richard Cranniwell of Woodbridge in the County of Suffolk, cordwainer," appointed "my trusty friend & brother-in-law Thomas Marrett of Cambridge in New England, cordwainer, my true & lawful attorney irrevocable to make sale & delivery of a certain messuage & tenement lying & being in Boston in New England aforesaid given unto me the said Richard by the last will & testament of my brother John Cranniwell of Boston aforesaid deceased." Richard Cranniwell married a sister of the wife of Thomas Marrett. JOHN CRANWELL {1630, Boston} came to Boston in 1630 and died there in 1639. Thomas Marrett sold this property to JACOB ELIOT {1631, Boston}.
