READING, Vt. -- Bessie M. Hodgeman, 83, a longtime resident of Reading, died April 23, 2009, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
She was born July 9, 1925, to Wilfred A. and Fern C. (Thomas) Gonyea in Cavendish, where she grew up and attended school. She was married to Cyril S. Hodgeman Jr. on Nov. 20, 1947, in the Church Parsonage in Brownsville.
She was predeceased by one son, Cedric Hodgeman.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Cyril, of Bennington; one daughter, Cyrilla S. Prescott, of Manchester, N.H.; one sister, Helen Bemis, of Rutland; and one brother, Albert Gonyea of Saxtons River.
IN HER LIFE: Family also includes one brother-in-law, Stanley Hodgeman, and his wife, Judith, of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICES: Friends and family may call Friday at 1 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor.
