Emily Sue Howard, 86, of Columbus, Ga., died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ozark.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Clayton Nowell officiating. Private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The following will serve as active pallbearers: Rob Elliot Jr., Brad Elliott, Henry Middlebrooks, Brad Smith, Mark Smith, Ryan Howard and Eric Slaick.
The family will receive friends following the service according to the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Boulevard, Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Howard was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Columbus, Ga., daughter of the late Daniel Vernon and Annie Dale Bridges Tippins. She was a charter member of the Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church. She is retired as an administrative assistant in Judge Advocate's office in Fort Benning, Ga. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dodd Howard.
Survivors include her daughter, Ginny Elliott of Lincoln; two sons, Rob Elliott Sr. (Linda) of Ozark and Michael Elliott (Mary Ann) of Banks; stepdaughters, Debbie True of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Lorna Hoff of Melbourne, Fla.; stepson, Robert Howard Jr. of Phenix City; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
