Barbara J. Adkins
Barbara Jane Adkins, 56, of Flat Rock died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at her home.
Born Sept. 21, 1952, in Sanders, Ky., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wilson and was adopted by Billy J. and Mary Jane Oldham. She married Donald Lee Adkins on Oct. 12, 1979, and he survives.
Other survivors include her sister, Beverly (husband, Alton) Adkins of Shelbyville; brothers, Sonny Wilson and Ricky Wilson, both of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents; brothers, Michael J. Oldham and Roger Wilson; and sister, Shelly Oldham.
Mrs. Adkins was a computer programmer for the state of Indiana.
She graduated from Southwestern High School in 1970.
Mrs. Adkins was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She loved animals.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Craig and Pastor Dean Adkins officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
