St. George, UT - Marc W. Anderson passed away peacefully April 12, 2009 after getting ready for church on Easter morning. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 21, 1922, the 2nd child of Lawrence Wright Anderson and Esther Ivie Anderson.

He grew up in the Sugarhouse area and graduated from Judge Memorial High School in 1941. He was attending Utah State Agricultural College when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He then joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1942 and departed for active duty three months later. He served four years and spent two of those years on the Aleutian Islands.

He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952 and married Loueen Anderson in 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. Together they raised a family of eight children, five boys and three girls while first living in Bountiful, Utah, then in Blythe, California and then moved to Washington, Utah in 1983.

Marc enjoyed working at the St. George LDS Temple on the night crew, for Newby Buick and St. George Ford as a driver, and at Wal-Mart as a Greeter. He sang in the Tabernacle Choir for three years. He enjoyed singing and was often invited to sing solos in church. He served as a fireside chairman, a stake missionary, a primary teacher, a Sunday School President, and a home teacher.

He enjoyed his garden and faithfully planted it every spring. He loved watering it and watching it grow and then gave away much of the produce. He will always be remembered for his jokes, his magic tricks, and his teasing. In a very short time, he could make a friend of a perfect stranger. He was always trying out the newest and latest remedies - never afraid to experiment on his own.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jim, his parents, his brother William Evans, and his sister, Isabel Hulse.

He is survived by his wife, Loueen, and his children as follows: Bill, Susan and spouse David McKelleb, Phillip and spouse Tracy, Paul and spouse Tracy, David and spouse Kirsten, Mary and spouse Greg Henrie, Jamie Anderson and 23 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 11:00 am at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd in St. George.

Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery following funeral services. Arrangements under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
