Itawamba Settlers - Spring 2001

Another of the long-time practicing physicians of Itawamba county passed to his reward on Sunday, May 1st, when the Death Angel wafted away the spirit of Dr. Charlie W. Graham from his earthly body. Dr. Graham died at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, following a several years poor health and illness.

Funeral services attended by a throng of grieved relatives and friends, many former patients and close confidantes, were conducted and interment of the body was had a Fairview Church Monday at noon. Rev. J. C. Graham and Rev. Audie Wilson conducted the service.

The service was one beautiful in words of love, love and respect for the unselfish service rendered by the deceased as a physician, neighbor and friend to suffering humanity. Dr. Graham a revered and admired mason, was given a Masonic burial ceremony by Fairview Masonic Lodge of which he was a member.

Dr. Graham was married to Miss Georgia Harden, daughter of the late Richard Harden of Harden's Chapel and Fulton, and she preceeded him to the grave several years. They were devoted companions throughout life and to them were born twelve children, eight of whom survive, namely: Mrs. Noon Weeks, Golden; Dr. Allie T. Graham, Oklahoma City, OK; Mrs. J. G. Woods and Edd Graham of Golden; Mrs. Troy Hall, Red Bay, AL; and Earl, Fred, and Murl Graham of the home community. A number of grand children survive.
