Age 82, of Joliet, IL, formerly of Chillicothe, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at the Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. Born June 14, 1918 in Rushville, IL to the late Thomas Jackson and Ann Maurine (nee Baily) Rowland.

During WW II, Elizabeth was employed at Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, IL. In the years following, she had been employed at the Pearce Grade School cafeteria in Chillicothe.

Later, she was employed for many years as a savings representative at the Chillicothe Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Elizabeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, having recently been recognized as a fifty year member.

She had served the church in various capacities, including Treasurer.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter #178 in Chillicothe.

She enjoyed playing cards, ceramics and sports.

Surviving are one daughter, Emily A. Russell of Wilmington, IL; two sons, Maurice Grafton of Galena, IL and Harry (Cindy) Grafton of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Vallazza, Sarah, Thomas and Kate Grafton, Anna and Caleb Grafton; two brothers, Thomas (Norma) Rowland of Rushville, IL and George (Mary) Rowland of Naperville, IL; a special cousin, Barbara Arnold of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Eugene Grafton, whom she married November 5, 1944 in Rushville; and one sister, Esther Boundy.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Friday, June 1, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Keith Ferguson officiating.

Interment Blue Ridge Cemetery in Peoria County, IL. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, from 5-8 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Funeral Chapel in Chillicothe and Friday, June 1, one hour preceding services at the church.

Memorials in her name to the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe would be appreciated.
