Clarence B. Gerlach, 47, Celina route 2, died Thursday at 7:20 p.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, Coldwater. He was admitted to the hospital at 12:30 a.m. Thursday after suffering a sudden heart attack at his residence. He was born May 23, 1922 in Coldwater to William and Philomena Clune Gerlach, Coldwater. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Carthagena, the Holy Name Society and the Coldwater Eagles Aerie 3025. He was engaged in farming and was an employee of the St. Marys Foundry. He married the former Pauline Rosenbeck May 22, 1943 in Coldwater and she survives with his parents and eight children, Mrs. Wilfred (Barbara) Heitkamp, St. Henry; Mrs. James (Mary) Hoehne, Ft. Loramie, Mrs. Carl (Betty) Kremer, Chickasaw; Mrs. James (Janet) Dues, St. Peter; and Susan, Kenneth, Nancy and Sandra Gerlach, all at home. Surviving also are seven brothers and sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Pauline) Klosterman and Mrs. Mark (Dorothy) Niekamp, Celina; Victor Gerlach, Piqua; Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Niekamp, New Bremen; Robert and Harold Gerlach, Coldwater; and James Gerlach of Nashville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One brother preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Carthagena church with the Rev. James Kelly officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
