George M. Thompson was born just across the Union Township line in Middle Township on March 14, 1862. His parents were James W. (b. 1827, d. 1900) and Elizabeth Jane (b. 1830, d. 1866) (Hale) Thompson. George married Rose Trotter of Eel River Township on October 1, 1885 and they lived in Lizton all of their married lives. They had two children, Earl L. (b. October 7, 1886, d. June 27, 1966) and Fern (b. March 19, 1890) who now lives in the Methodist Home at Franklin, Indiana. George was a farmer and a member of the Montgomery Methodist Chapel which was later the Lizton Methodist Church, where he was a trustee and treasurer for many years. He was a charter member of the Lizton Knights of Pythias Lodge, organized in 1892, was a treasurer of the Knights of Pythias Lizton Cemetery Board, and was on the Union Township Advisory Board when the school was built in 1921.

90-Year-Old Liztonian Dies - George M. Thompson, a retired farmer of the Lizton community, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fern Jordan, in Indianapolis. He had been ill for several months. Mr. Thompson was 90 years old Friday. He lived in his home in Lizton with a son, Earl, until he was taken to the home of his daughter. Native of Hendricks County, he was one of eight children of James W. and Elizabeth Thompson. Mr. Thompson had the longest record of continuous membership in the Lizton Methodist Church. He had been a member 74 years. He was chairman of the Board of Trustees. He belonged to the Lizton K. of P. Lodge 60 years, being a charter member. At the time of his death, he was treasurer of the K. of P. Cemetery Association. He had served in that capacity 50 years. Services will be this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lizton Methodist Church in charge of the Rev. Don Weaver. Burial will be in the K. of P. Cemetery at Lizton. Survivors besides the daughter and son are three grandsons (and a granddaughter).
