Old Soldier Dies Suddenly
Monroe Nash Answers the Last Roll Call at Lovington
(Review Special Services.)
Lovington. Ills., March 17. - Monroe Nash died suddenly at the home of Mrs. William Pepperdine in this place Thursday night. Mr. Nash has only been sick eight days with erysipelas and had been confined too his bed most of the time. His home was in St. Louis, but he had been here with his sister, Mrs. Pepperdine, since last November, and has made many friends while here.
He was an old soldier, having served his country. with the exception of three months at the beginning, all through the civil war in company B, Seventeenth Indiana regiment. Nearly two years were spent by him at the National Soldiers' Home at Danville before coming here.
Mr. Nash was born in Indiana and was a resident of tht state until 1869, when he moved to Litchfield. Ills., where he worked at his trade as carpenter until 1893, when he moved to St. Louis, his present home. He was 68 years old the 22d of last November.
