Services for Forrest E. "Bud" Bailey, Sr., 83, were held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 9 at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton with Revs. Max Smiley and Bill Lane officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Bailey died June 7, 2000 in Grand Saline.
He was born March 17, 1917, in Canton to the late Jesse G. and Rosie A. Cope Bailey. He was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County, living in Wentworth and Mt. Lebanon Communities. He served on the Grand Saline School Board, the ASCS and FHA boards, and was a former member of the farm bureau.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Syble Fisher; and sisters, Ethel Stanberry, Dovie Chaney and Dorothy Dell Ayres.
Survivivos include his wife, Dorothy Bailey, Grand Saline; sons, Edward Bailey and Harlon Bailey, both of Grand Saline; daughter, Bonnie Martinez, Mesquite; sisters, Clara Cole, Grand Prairie, Rachel Hughes, Canton, and Lettie Lee Anderko, Kilgore; stepson, Sammie Don Sline, Terrell; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Ben Koonce, Tony Lovett, Trent Lovette, Paul Elliott, Paul Mereno, Brian Sline, Gary Sline and Charles Ayres.
