The Lord called James Everett Bailey, 82, of Shelbyville, formerly of Dalton City and De Soto, MO, home at 1:35 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2002 in Shelbyville Manor.Funeral Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Graveside services with military rites will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto, Mo. Memorials may be given to the First Church of the Nazarene, Shelbyville or Lincolnland Hospice.Mr. Bailey was born on August 26, 1919 in Potosi, MO, the youngest of 17 children of Edward and Amanda Venable Bailey. He was a retired glassmaker for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Mt. Zion, and Army veteran of WWII and was affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. He married Eula Henry and she preceded him in death. He later married Luda Gadberry Hardy on June 1, 1973.Surviving are his wife, Luda; son, James H. Bailey and wife Linda of Sullivan; step-sons, David Hardy and wife Cheryl of Decatur and Jerry Ritchie and wife Marcella of De Soto, MO; daughter, Evalene Shackelford and husband Ron of Sugar Land, TX; step-daughters, Sheila Lane and husband Clifton of De Soto, MO and Sharon Trudeau of Owasso, OK; sister, Nellie Perryman of Pilot Knob, MO; 22 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and fifteen brothers and sisters.He will be missed by his loved ones and friends.
