Fuad Dajany

Fuad Dajany, 80, passed away at his home Sunday, April 6, 2008. He was born in Palestine to Alliyyah al Khalidi Dajani and Sharif Fuad Wafa Dajani. He attended the American University of Cairo, where he enjoyed crewing on the Nile.

He came to the US in 1948 and met Doris Deane Ault at Utah State University in Logan. They were married and raised a family of nine children. Fuad worked for The Associated Press for 45 years, initially in Salt Lake, transferring to the New York office in Rockefeller Plaza.

Much of the family returned to Utah where he retired in 1993. Every summer he looked forward to spending time at his cabin in the mountains. He loved wildlife and fed the deer, the chipmunks and over 80 hummingbirds at one time. At his home in American Fork, he is remembered as sitting on his back porch, sipping coffee, surrounded by his gardens. He often told stories of his heritage to family and friends while sitting down to a delicious ethnic meal. He had a good sense of humor, strong political opinions, and a generous spirit.

He is preceded in death by his wife, mother, father, one brother, and two sisters. He is survived by his brother Yousif Dajani (Pleasant Hill, CA); 6 daughters - Alleah McCarthy (Sandy, UT), Innam Dajany (Saranac Lake, NY), Samia Dajany (American Fork), Marina Graham (Lehi), Maryam Dajany (Provo), and Jomanna Dajany (American Fork); 3 sons - Sharrif Dajany (Lehi), Omar Dajany (Appleton, WI), and Kahlil Dajany Aston, PA); 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Donations in his memory can be made to the United Palestinian Appeal which provides humanitarian services to injured and orphaned Palestinian children. Address: 1330 New Hampshire Ave. NW, Suite 104, Washington, D.C. 20036.
