George Carden, 85, died Thursday at his home at 528 S. Macdonald.

Carden, a retired laborer, was born in Alabama and moved to Mesa in 1929.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Bell, Mesa; four daughters, Mrs. Goldie Drorbaugh, Mrs. Ella Haynes and Mrs. Georgia Davis, all of Mesa, and Mrs. Carrie Phillips of Pinetop; two sons, Wayne Carden of Pleasant Hope, Mo., and Elmer Carden of Phoenix; three step sons and four step daughters; 53 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren; and 34 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Garden Chapel, Gibbons-Bunker Mortuary, 33 N. Sirrine. Burial will be in the City of Mesa cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
