Grace Marie (Nordrum, Bistodeau) Hokanson was born on Feb. 7, 1929, in Minneapolis, the fifth child of eight children born to Arthur and Mildred (Hanson) Nordrum. Grace died June 3, 1999, at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 70.
Grace was baptized on March 10,1929, at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She lived in Milaca and schooled through the eighth grade at the Mille Lacs City rural school.
When she was 17, she marred Victor John Bistodeau. They lived in Brooklyn Center and had seven children. Victor passed away on Aug. 18, 1960, two months before the birth of their son Jeffrey. Grace then moved to North Branch.
On April 5, 1963, Grace married Vinton John Hokanson. They resided in North Branch where they raised Grace's family and Vince's Bistodeau son, Wayne. Vince died on Feb. 19, 1988.
Grace is survived by five sons: Douglas (Dayle) Bistodeau, Steven (Cheryl) Bistodeau, John (Suzanne) Bistodeau, Jeffrey (Kelly) Bistodeau and Wayne (Natalie) Hokanson; three daughters: Vicki LaBelle, Susan (Scott) Larson, Holly (Tim) Fairbanks; two brothers, Robert and David Nordrum; three sisters: Margaret Mathison, Evelyn Bistodeau and Doris Hamilton; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; many other. relatives and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her brother Carl and sister Shirley.
Funeral services were held on June 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch with the Rev. Clayton Rudolph officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch.
