Richard became ill and was given a shot by a doctor. Since he died very quickly after receiving this shot, it could be likely that a mistake was made by the doctor or an allergic reaction occurred. Nick and Agnes were so crushed by the loss of their beautiful young son that they had no more children. He was buried January 20, 1931.
