Hugh Bicknell, 77, of 320 W. Tazewell St., Tremont, formerly of Bloomington, died at 2:15 p.m. yesterday (April 5, 1991) at his home. He was retired from the Bloomington Public Works Department.

He was born May 25, 1913, in Arthur, a son of William Kelly and Minnie Ethel Hayes Bicknell II. He married Elizabeth Betty Wittmus. She died Aug. 24, 1974. He married Lois Edna Burleson on March 18, 1990, in Tremont. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Don Bicknell, Gerald Bicknell, William Bicknell; and Douglas; two daughters, Beverly Vandervort and Marilyn Long; two stepsons, David and Don Burleson; two stepdaughters, Linda Mead and Margaret Burleson; a brother and a sister; 30 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and two grandchildren.

Mr. Bicknell attended Calvary Baptist Church in Tremont. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Bloomington Veterans of Foreign Wars post and the Delavan American Legion post.
