Thelma M. Battin, 82, of Hope died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.

She had been a nurse's aide at Columbus Regional Hospital and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and Bartholomew County Senior Center.

Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Stewart Schulz officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County.

Mrs. Battin was born May 8, 1916, in Columbus, the daughter of Amza and Nellie Coles Steinbarger. She married Dallas E. Battin Oct. 20, 1936. He survives.

Also surviving are sons, John and Jim Battin, both of Columbus; grandchildren, Samantha Harpring and Steffany VanEpps; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond and Donald Steinbarger.
