Mrs. J. B. Lawler, 86, native of Canton and long-time resident of Dallas, died in a Temple hospital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday after a short illness.
Mrs. Lawler and her husband moved to Belton in 1946 to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. R.L. Henderson, Sr. She was a member of thee First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the First Baptist Church in Belton, with Rev. James Basden conducting. Burial was at Belton.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawler celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on August 1.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, four sons, 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She also left a number of nephews and nieces in the Athens area: Mrs. Henry Lawler, Mrs. Walter Robertson, Mrs. W.F. Mixon, G.A. Reynolds, C.P. McWilliams and C.C. Bateman. Most of these attended the funeral.
