EUNICE-A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice, for Mr. Russell Devillier, 75, who passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.

The Rev. Father Tom Voorhies, Pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice will be the Celebrant with the Rite of Committal to follow in the Reed Cemetery in Mamou.

A loving husband and father, Mr. Devillier resided in Ville Platte but was a native of Lanse Meg and a longtime resident of Eunice. He was an avid sports enthuist and a faithful Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan as well as very active with youth Little League baseball in Eunice. Mr. Devillier was also very athletic excelling in Boxing, Football and track where he had a long lasting track and field record at Mamou High School. Mr. Devillier was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict.

For many years, Mr. Devillier, was associated with the Tri-Parish Bank of Eunice, Citizens Bank of Ville Platte and the First Bank of Eunice. He later went on to work for Thomas E. Powell, Sr. as the Assistant to the Public Service Commissioner of Eunice until his retirement in 1995.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene Devillier of Ville Platte; three sons Russell John Devillier of Alexandria, Bryon Paul Devillier of Baton Rouge, Jules August Devillier of Houston, TX; one brother, Nolan J. Devillier; two sisters, Earlene D. Guillory of Eunice, Elmer D. Andrus and husband, Kenneth of Eunice; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Ophelia Manuel Devillier; a sister, Rena Fontenot.
The family request that visitation hours be observed from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2007 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice and again on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from 8:00 am until time of services with a Rosary to be recited by Bea Thibodeaux at 7:00 pm Monday evening.
