Mark G. Weiss, 89, of Eau Claire was born April 23, 1920, to Frank and Julia (Brantner) Weiss. He passed away May 1, 2009, at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mark married Phyllis Johnson in 1942, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific and worked various places before working at Uniroyal, where he worked for more than 35 years
Mark was a loving husband of 67 years to Phyllis, a terrific father and grandfather, and always had a smile and kind words for everyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends, and loved baseball and watching the Milwaukee Brewers.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters, Linda Young, Becky (Dan) Hilson of Eau Claire; son, Tim of Weston; son-in-law Richard Glenz (Carol Sue Olson); grandchildren, Lori (Tony) Goulet, Scott Glenz (Carrie Best), Chad Young, Tammy (Corey) Sivertson, Mark (Kaia) Hilson; great- grandchildren, Sierra and Faith Young, Cheyanne and Christopher Glenz, Halle and Cade Sivertson and Maggie Hilson; brothers, Frank (Beverly), Roger (Darlene) and LeRoy (Sue); sisters Gladys King and Bernice (Lowell) Green; and a brother-in-law, George Theiss. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Connie Glenz; parents, Frank and Julia Weiss; brother, Hubert; sisters, Helen Pederson, Emma Roinstead, Leona Green and Lucy Theiss.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 5, 2009, at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire. Pastor Randy Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the services. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #53. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.
