Andrew married Abigail "Abbie" Bentley November 26, 1857. At some point, after the 1850 census, Andrew started using Lawson as his last name, instead of Lossing. The 1860 census and a Civil War registration use the name Lawson. Andrew and Abbie had a son, Frederick who died at the tender age of 4. Frederick is buried near his father. They also had a daughter together, named Anna (Annie) Mary Lossing
After Andrew's death, Abbie married Thomas Lossing, Andrew's cousin. Andrew's father, Nicholas and Thomas' father, Henry George were brothers.
