ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED
C. J. Anderson, one of the oldest residents of this community died suddenly at his home Sunday, Oct. 5, at the age of 69 years, 9 months, 2 days. Mr. Anderson was born in Rydemåla, Kronobergs län, Sweden, Jan. 3, 1850. He emigrated to this country and came to Stillwater in April, 1868. After a few years' residence in Stillwater he came to North Branch and bought a farm near Spring Lake, where he resided up to a year and a half ago, when he sold out and moved into town. He was a highly respected citizen and was looked upon as a leader in his community, especially in co-operative work among the farmers and was placed in charge of the Farmers' Alliance, which was in active operation here at one time. When the rural mail delivery was established here he was one of the first carriers and served in that capacity faithfully and uncomplainingly for many years.
He is survived by his wife, ten children, 13 grandchildren, one brother in this country and two brothers and one sister in Sweden.
