Funeral services were held this afternoon from the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Almelund for Mrs. Eva Lisa Holmquist, 83-year-old resident of the Palmdale community who died at her home Monday from the result of a stroke. Officiating at the last rites, which were largely attended was Rev. C. A. Slatt.
Pallbearers were: Andrew Swenson, Charles Melander, Otto Magner, Charles Grandstrand, John Turner, and William Peterson. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Eva Holmquist was born in Kronoberg Lan, Sweden 1853 and came to this country in 1877. She traveled by steamboat to Taylors Falls and after residing there for some time, united in marriage to John G. Holmquist, January 10, 1885 [at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City, Minnesota]. They lived on a farm one-half mile north of Palmdale upon which place the deceased spent the remainder of her life. Her husband died on May 15, 1917.
Mrs. Holmquist is mourned by two sons and one daughter namely: Charles A Holmquist of Taylors Falls, Peter V. Holmquist of the home farm and Mrs. Andrew Froberg of Lindstrom. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and also a brother, August Stedt of Center City. She had been a member of the Chisago Lake Church and later joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Almelund. She is well known in the Almelund and Center City communities and leaves a host of friends there who join with the sorrowing family in expressing condolences
