Almelund resident Carl Almquist filmed every event he could with his new movie camera during the 1930-40 era. He captured local scenes that no others had recorded. The events and scenes include early threshing party's, Nevers Dam, St. Croix River scenes hunting camps, Almelund's Memorial Day and lots more.
Carl donated his film collection to the Amador Heritage Center in 1977 when he sold the family farm. Recently [2014] two rolls of his film were transferred to DVD by a Minneapolis firm that specializes in this process. The original films have been donated to the Minnesota Historical Society to ensure proper storage and handling.
