Craig was united in marriage with Vickie Peiffer on August 19, 1976. This union was blessed with two children, David Allen and William Joe. Later, Craig was united in marriage with Jill Mathes on August 29, 1987 in Newton. Her death preceded him in 2002. Craig lived in the Newton and Monroe areas until moving to Collins, Iowa in 1993. He worked as a truck mechanic for Van Dusseldorp's and Martin-Marietta. Craig enjoyed camping, fishing, and loved his dog, Jake. He was a caring father, grandfather, son, uncle, and friend.
Craig's death came on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Mariposa County Park in rural Kellogg. He was 51. Craig was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur and his wife, Jill.
