Tests Show Jamison Boy Died Of Polio
Source: Beecher City Journal, 22 Jan 1959

Mrs Robert Lirely of near Effingham received a call last night from her brother, Jack Jamison of Clute, Texas concerning the November 26 death of his 7-year-old son, John Jr.

Numerous tests taken since the sudden death of the boy, which at first was believed caused by spinal meningitis, proved that the youngster suffered from No 3 double bulbar, a very rare type of polio. His father stated that he had taken all three shots for polio.

The final test, taken at Galveston, Texas, disclosed that the highly contagious disease, which is incurable, struck the boy about a week before his death.

Mrs Jamison is the former Rosella Light of Beecher City and the family formerly resided in Effingham.

In Memoriam
26 Nov 1959
In loving memory of our little son Johnny, who passed away a year ago, November 26.

We mourn for him in silence
No eyes can see us weep,
But many a silent tear we shed
While others are asleep.

Surrounded by friends, we're lonesome,
In the midst of joys, we're blue
With a smile on our faces we've a heartache,
Longing dear Son, for you.
