August William Anderson was born in Sweden, Dec. 26, 1874 . He came to America on July 3, 1879. During his lifetime he had engaged in farming. About 20 years ago he retired from farming and moved to Old Towne, Chisago City, MN where he made his home with his sister.
He was confirmed with the class of 1899 in Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Chisago City, MN where he was a lifelong member.
He died on May 14, 1960 at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Funeral services were held in Zion Ev. Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 17, Pastor Clarence W. Peterson lead the service. Mrs. Esther Oberg and Mrs. Anna Peterson lead the service, Mrs. Esther Oberg and Mrs. Anna Peterson sang two hymns and the assembled congregation sang one hymn. Mrs. A. Harold Peterson was the organist. The following served as pallbearers.
Russell Mattson, Werner Mollar, Emmet Munson, Roy Carlson, Albert Johnson, Roy Borg. Interment was at South Green Lake Cemetery.
Among those who mourn his passing are: one sister, Mathilda Anderson, one niece, Mrs. Donald Johnson, Chisago City, two nephews, Arthur Anderson, Chisago City, MN and Edwin Anderson, Upper Monalair, NJ. Also other relatives and friends.
