Per Ramee was born on September 27, 1880, in Sweden the son of Erick Persson Stadig and Marin Milsdotter. He emigrated to the United States where he married Frances Ruth Wyman who had been born on June 19, 1881, in Minnesota. She died on September 5, 1944, at age 63 and is buried in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. They had four children John Ramee (1911-2001), Eric Per Ramee (1913-1962), Paul Wyman Ramee (1915-1916), Ruth Ramee (1917-1966), and Paul Wyman Ramee (1920-1994). Each of his three sons served in the United States Armed Services. Per had entered the army when he was 16 and was an internationally known marksman, fought in WWI and WWII and when he became a Colonel, he was the Director of Training and Brigade Commander of the 35th Division at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. He became Military Science and Tactics Instructor at De La Salle Military Academy and held that position for over 12 years. On his 74th birthday, tributes were paid to Per by Brother Leander, "We meet a lot of good men in the course of our lives but few great ones. Colonel Ramee is one of the great ones. His greatness lies in the fact that he is always trying to give rather than receive." Col. P. Ramee was granted Letters of Benefaction by the Superior General, Brother Nicet Joseph, and his Council in Rome, on October 27, 1962. He was recommended for this honor by the Brothers of Kansas City, Missouri, for his generosity to De La Salle High School in Kansas City. Brother Per Ramee Stadig BFSC died on February 17, 1968, at age 87 in Kansas City and his body was laid next to his beloved Frances in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.
We pray for God's blessing on our living benefactors and affiliated members and for eternal rest upon our beloved Brothers, affiliated members, friends, students, family, and benefactors who have died on this day. May perpetual light shine upon them, may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
