Don was born Mar. 17, 1937 in California Junction, Cincinnati Township, to Major Ruben and Grace G. (Johnson) Adams. Don joined the U.S. Army in March of 1957 and proudly served his country until April of 1958. May 31, 1958, he married Rosemond Loretta Peffer in Blair.
Don worked as a police officer and maintenance worker for the City of Modale He also worked as a mechanic for M&R in Modale, Boho Oil Co., Blair, and Clark Ready-Mix, Missouri Valley.
Don loved working on cars (especially demo and race cars), dancing, playing pool and cards, farming, scratch-offs, Keno, bingo, bowling, and helping people wherever he could. He was a member of the American Legion in Modale, where he served as Commander.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Lee; and his brothers, Harold, Wilbur, and Charles; his sisters, Inez Layton, Shirley Merriman, Bea Coats, and Betty Adams; and one special son-in-law, Ivan Wood.
Survivors include: his daughters, Susan and her husband, Roger, Farley, Modale; Debra and her husband, Roger, Merriman, Omaha; Kathleen Wood, Mondamin; sons, Douglas, Missouri Valley, and Kory, Modale; grandchildren, Jenae, Laurie, Troy Nicholas, Patrick, Kathleen, Amanda, Kassandra, Kendra, Keegan and Jordyn; great-grandchildren, Dominick, Andrew, Dakota and CJ; sisters, Eunice Stueve, Missouri Valley; and Arlene (Mac) Osborne, Blair; many nieces, nephews and friends, who loved and will remember him always.
Funeral Services were held Apr. 4 at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home, Missouri Valley, Pastor Don Crosgrove, officiant.
Interment was in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Military Honors were conducted by Snyder-Imrie Post, American Legion, Modale.
