Joe C. Nixon, 72, of Charleston died Monday, April 20, 1998, in a local hospital. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge No. 155 and a civil service employee.
Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20th at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, east of Lavaca, under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived one daughter, Sandra Newhart of Charleston; one son, Larry Nixon of Charleston; one sister, Geneva Haywood of Alma; and one brother, Bill Nixon of Mulberry; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jason and Justin Newhart, Paul Carruth, Jim Moore, Jim Haywood and Bob Nixon.
