35 year Cummins Engine Company retiree passes

Glenn I. Fillenworth, 88, of Elizabethtown, Indiana, passed away at the Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Columbus on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 8:55a.m. Mr. Fillenworth was born on October 13, 1920, in Mansfield, Ill. to Alfred and Clara Fogle Fillenworth. He was a 1939 graduate of Belleflower High School in Belleflower, Ill. Mr. Fillenworth was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Red Ball Express in the European Campaign.

He married Kathleen Sharp on September 20, 1941 in Jeffersonville, IN. He worked as an engineer for Cummins Engine Company for 35 years before retiring in 1981, and was a farmer all his life.

Mr. Fillenworth was a member of Browns Corner Chapel, Cattleman's Association of Indiana, and Tri County Youth Camp where served on the Board of Directors. He loved Playing Golf, NASCAR, IU Basketball, Raising Cattle, and it was always time for Ice Cream.

Mr. Fillenworth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathleen Fillenworth, two Daughters; Angela M. (Larry) Bray, of Avon, IN, Marilyn K. (Roger) Williams of Elizabethtown, IN, one Son; G. Alan (Cindy) Fillenworth of Elizabethtown, IN, a brother; Lewis C. (Lucille) Fillenworth of Pittsburg, CA, Five Grandchildren; And Eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; Janet Sue Fillenworth, three brothers; Francis, Elmer, & Paul Fillenworth, two sisters; Louise Brockman, Doris Horne.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Burnett officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, and on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 one hour prior to service at funeral home. Burial will take place at Reddington Cemetery after the service with Military rites conducted by the American Legion #89, V.F.W. #1925, the D.A.V. #47 and the Vietnam Veterans # 7, all of Seymour.

Memorial contributions can be made to Browns Corner Chapel Building Fund, Hospice of South Central Indiana or to donor's choice.

Glenn I. Fillenworth, 88, of Elizabethtown died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with the Rev. David Burnett officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Reddington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Browns Corner Chapel Building Fund or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Sharp Fillenworth; daughters, Angela M. (Larry) Bray of Avon and Marilyn K. (Roger) Williams of Elizabethtown; a son, G.
