MOULTONBORO -- Robert R. Huston, 91, of 9 Locke Lane, died Oct. 26, 2004 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., on Oct. 19, 1913, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Ellen (Merrifield) Huston.
He was a resident of Moultonboro for many years. He worked in the Lakes Region as a self employed brick mason for most all his life, until his retirement in 1975.
Mr. Huston wintered in Lake Wales, Fla., for 12 years, where he enjoyed playing golf. He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Moultonboro United Methodist Church, both in Moultonboro. He was also a member of the Meredith Photography Club in Meredith.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the European and Pacific theater. He shared 31 years with his first wife, Evelyn (Smith) Huston, who died in May of 1981, and 22 years of marriage with Theresa (Brecanier) Huston.
In his life, he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to his family. He also had a love for visiting Maine, where he enjoyed the ocean. He also enjoyed shuffleboard, dancing the jitterbug and ballroom dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Brecanier) Huston of Moultonboro; four sons, Randall L. Huston and wife Mary of Moultonboro, James H. Huston of Moultonboro, and Robert D. Huston and wife Kay of Moultonboro; one stepson, Joseph Roux of Belmont; three stepdaughters, Sandra Fitzgerald of Raleigh, N.C., Jacqueline Shone of Center Harbor, and Denise Roux of Center Harbor; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma Strout of Massachusetts, Bessie Tikka of Shirley, Mass., and Eleanor Peterson of Sandwich; two brothers, Bernard Huston of San Diego, Calif., and Lee Huston of Moultonboro.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn (Smith) Huston and a sister, Jean Walker, and brothers, Warren Huston and Charles Huston.
Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes 3 and 104, Meredith, on Thursday 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Moultonboro United Methodist Church, Moultonboro, on Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Hope N. Luckie, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Middle Neck Cemetery, Moultonboro.
