Jeff D. Carter of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Bloomington Hospital. Born on June 6, 1962, in Jeffersonville, IN, he was the son of Kenneth D. and Carolyn L. (Durr) Carter. He married Debbie Walt, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Kenneth W. Carter and Tyler J. Carter, both of Mitchell, IN; his father; one brother, Steve Carter of Fredericksburg, IN; and one sister, Kennitha Carter Eicher of Floyds Knobs, IN. He was preceded in death by his mother.

He had worked in the chair division at Paoli Inc. in Orleans for the past ten years. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1983-1987, serving on board the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy. He was a member of the Marion Township Rural Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a First Class Firefighter, First Responder, EMS, and the current Assistant Fire Chief.

Services for Jeff Carter will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30th, at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
