John E. Martindale (36606188) - Source: LA Times, 2/13/1911. Abstract: "John E. Martindale, 74, committed suicide last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.V. Johnson, by choking himself to death. He had taken his handkerchief, fastened it around his neck and then using his knife as a lever, had made a tourniquet of the handkerchief and twisted it until he choked to death. He came here from New York five years ago. He has a brother Lloyd S. living in this city (Long Beach) and another brother, Emory D., an attorney in Los Angeles.
