UPTON. J Wesley (from Greenland) John Wesley Upton, age 73 years old, died at
his home in Fayetteville, Sunday night. He was buried Monday morning at the
Baptist Ford cemetery, one mile south of here. Mr. Upton came from Madison Co.
12 years ago, bought a farm 1 mile north of here, lived there until a short time
ago when he bought property at Fayetteville, where he lived at the time of his
death.
He was a soldier in the civil war, fighting on the Union side. He was respected
by all that knew him. He leaves an aged wife, three sons, four daughters and
several grandchildren besides numerous relatives to mourn his loss. The bereaved
ones have the sympathy of the entire community.

of one week. Pnuemonia and other lung troubles was the cause of his death.
