More about Levi and Betsey: They settled on 80 acres in section 30 of Hazelton Twp in Shiawassee County, Michigan in 1857. The area was known as Juddville (still is today, actually). The Morse homestead is in the picture of Levi and Betsey. Levi Morse enlisted in the army in 1864 to fight in the Civil War, at the age of 42. He served in the 23rd Infantry, Company I.
