Barney Rolla Barncord, 72, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at home.
He was born April 6, 1936 in Aurora, IL to Lyle and Matilda (McCoy) Barncord. He graduated from Elgin High School, worked at the Budd Company for 25 years, then as a custodian at Westchester Middle School for 18 years. He was a NASCAR and stock car racing fan. On August 25, 1956 in Hobart he married Joan Zon, who survives, along with three children, Sharon (Larry) Nowlin of Valparaiso, Steve (Tish) Barncord of Valparaiso, and Scott Barncord of Westville; four grandchildren, Amy (Nathan) Donaldson, and Sean, Stephen, and Xavier Barncord; one sister, Jeanette Duy of Oswego, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Spradlin. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, the Rev. Mike Porter officiating with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 PM. moellerfuneralhome.com
