Obituary – R. T. Dunkin
Ruth Thanuel Dunkin, youngest son of Henry and Susan Dunkin, was born Nov. 25, 1872 in Holt Township, Taylor County, Iowa and died Sunday, March 16, 1941 at his home in Gravity at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 9 days.
He resided in Holt Township until August 1922 when he moved into Gravity where he lived until his death.
On Feb. 11, 1896 he was married to Mary E. [lviner] Konecne and to them was born one son, Carl E. [manuel] Dunkin of Gravity, who with his mother, his wife, Ferne and his two children, Doyle and Lois, survive.
He was the youngest of a family of fourteen children, all deceased except one sister, Mattie E. Jones of Hayes Center, Nebr. There is also one stepsister, Mrs. S. J. Beemer of Gravity; one half-sister, Mrs. Dave Posten of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and two half-brothers, Fred R. Dunkin of Gravity and Charles E. Dunkin of Oklahoma City.
In 1911 he joined the Free Methodist church. He was a devoted husband and father and always enjoyed the comradeship of his family.
Funeral services were held at the Free Methodist church in Gravity Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Mr. Groesbeck of Clarinda. Burial was in the Gravity cemetery.
