Joseph E. Born Dies at Age of 90
Joseph E. Born, 90, of 336 Grand Ave., died Friday at 2 pm at his home. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born Jan. 3, 1867 in Fond du Lac, son of Antony and Rosalia Born. He was married at Kiel on April 9, 1896 to Miss Josephine Beischer and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Born was a cigar maker by trade, having operated a factory at Waupaca from 1901 - 1915 and in Weyauwega from 1915 - 1926 before coming to Oshkosh. He was a member of Waupaca Lodge 208 of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine; two brothers, George Born, King, Wis., and Jacob Born, Racine; one niece and one nephew. Four brothers preceded him in death. Odd Fellows will conduct a service Sunday at 7:30 pm at Mallery & Seefeld Funeral Home. Other services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. B. H. Romanowski, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in Kiel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday afternoon until the hour of services on Monday.
