He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Zion Reformed church where he remained a member for a number of years.
On September 27, 1916 he was married to Floretta Bratt. They
established their home on a farm in Pilot township, where they lived for a number of years until going to Marengo to make their
home. They also lived in Ottumwa several years before moving to Cedar Rapids, 5 years ago. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Mr. Schultz was devoted to his home and family and his work, but he was never too busy to lend a helping hand to a relative or friend, it made him happy to do for others.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and as a grandfather he was outstanding, his grandsons were the pride of his life and he had many visions and plans for their future.
The memories of his loyalty, kindness and generosity will long be cherished by everyone that knew him.
Survivingin additon to his wife, Floretta, are three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Seaton, Mrs. Harland Carlton, and Mrs. Grant Maples, three grandsons, Jerry, Grant and Stuart, all of Cedar Rapids. His aged father Fred Schultz, one brother, Carl of Williamsburg, three sisters, Mrs. Ed Koehn, Marengo, Mrs. Clayt Gerard, Iowa City, and Mrs. Wm.Schueler of Cedar Rapids and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, John and a sister Alma Smith.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. Chester Ainsworth at the Turner Chapel. Burial was made in Cedar Memorial Park.
