MURRELLS INLET | Constance ''Peggy'' Butler Williamson, 89, of Murrells Inlet, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Born March 12, 1920 in Anacostia, a section of Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Frederick S. Butler Sr. and Golden Irene Butler. She was a beautifully voiced contralto soloist for numerous weddings and funeral ceremonies, and choir member in several United Methodist Churches, including St. Paul's of Kensington, Md., Glenmont of Rockville, Md., and Surfside United Methodist Church of Surfside Beach. Peggy was a devoted homemaker and decorator, an avid reader, and loved hand art work. Many vacations were spent on various cruise ships to areas around the world; Hawaii was the favorite, with numerous extended stays. She was a faithful correspondent, with hand-written letters and cards to friends and family.
Peggy was a loving wife to her surviving husband, William ''Bill'' Ralph Williamson; and loving mother of her daughter, the Rev. Jeanne Williamson Klauda. Also surviving are a sister, Jean B. Dawson; a brother, Richard Leroy Butler; and many loving friends and relatives.
She is predeceased by one sister, Virginia B. Siemers; and three brothers, Frederick Jr., Jack, and Robert Butler.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Surfside United Methodist Church, Surfside Beach. Dr. Scott H. Wachter and the Rev. Kim Eanes will officiate. Entombment will follow at 2 p.m. in Southeastern Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
